Homework
Each Monday the homework assignment sheet will be sent
home with the spelling words for the week. It will also be listed here.
Assignments are due on Friday. Spelling tests are also on Friday mornings. Our first week of assignments will begin on
9/15/08.

Math: The math homework will correspond to our daily lessons, and so they will be assigned with a day or two delay, so that if the girls choose to work on Thursday's assignment on Tuesday, they will have had the lesson needed to complete the homework. This is a parent-interactive program, and you will be able to join your child's learning of important math resources, skills, and discovery of math in the world around them.
Reading: Each night the girls should be reading for at least 10-15 minutes. You can read to them and they should read to you. Mrs. Harris and I will encourage the girls to choose books that are appropriate and at their level. Even once your daughter begins to read, reading aloud to her is still important! It exposes them to text that would not be accessible to them at their current reading level, it models lifelong reading habits, and it can be a special time for you to share with your child. Books coming home from school will be sent in a plastic ziploc bag to keep it safe :-)
Spelling: Our Spelling words come from our spelling program. We will also be adding high frequency words and a personal choice word to the list each week. The spelling book provides added word study practice with beginning spelling patterns. The personal choice word will enable the girls to challenge themselves to learn words (or names) which are important to them :-)
